At Ingleside State School, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive. Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is the whole-school framework we use to guide behaviour, promote wellbeing and ensure consistent, evidence-based support for every child. Our school values are modelled under the affirmation that we are ‘Safe, Considerate Learners’  and are at the core of our approach and are explicitly taught, modelled and reinforced in every classroom and across the school.

PBL is underpinned by a set of core elements including unconditional positive regard, clear instruction around behaviour, prevention-focused strategies, and a whole-school commitment to data-driven decision-making, professional learning and cultural responsiveness. The framework operates through a three-tiered model of support. Tier 1 strategies form the foundation and are provided to all students. These include explicit teaching of behaviour expectations and social-emotional skills, consistent routines, clear boundaries, active supervision and regular positive acknowledgement. Each week we have a ‘Focus of the Week’ aligned to one of our school values, which is taught as a skill and positively reinforced across the school through distribution of Ingleside Ingots. These can be used to purchase rewards based on student feedback.

At Ingleside, PBL is more than a behaviour framework, it’s a way of building a connected school culture where every student is supported to learn and grow.
